Pest control for homes and businesses across metro Atlanta
Max Pest Solutions removes wasp and yellowjacket nests in Duluth, Georgia, at the structure and in the surrounding ground. Honey bees are different and we refer those to a beekeeper for live removal rather than treating them. Request a free quote.
Customized Pest Control Solutions
A wooded acre and a slab-foundation subdivision home need different work. In Duluth we quote after walking the property rather than from a price list, so what gets applied follows what the inspection actually finds.

Most treatments are one visit plus a check. If anything is still active when we come back to your Duluth property, we treat it again - that return visit is part of the job, not a second call-out.
Call Us NowThe treeline along the Chattahoochee gives stinging insects abundant nest sites and an abundant insect supply to feed the colony through its growth phase. Aerial nests go into tree cover along the corridor and ground nests into the undisturbed leaf-littered soil beneath it, which is heavily used by walkers and dogs.
On the housing side, 1970s to 1990s building has reached the age where soffit and fascia gaps give access to roof voids, so hidden nests are common. The combination produces the pattern here: a nest established out in the corridor that nobody finds, and a separate nest in an eave void that nobody sees until August. Both are worth locating before high summer rather than after, and neither is well served by treating the wasps visible around a patio.
| What | When it comes up here | What you notice first |
|---|---|---|
| Yellowjacket | Peak July to September, nesting in the ground or in a void | Steady traffic in and out of one hole, defensive close to the nest |
| Paper wasp | May through September, open comb under shelter | Umbrella-shaped comb under eaves, railings and grill covers |
| Corridor treeline, aerial nests | May through September | Visible only once leaves thin |
| Ground nests under leaf litter | July to September | On ground used by walkers and dogs |
| Soffit gaps on 1970s-90s housing | May through September | Hidden nests found late |

Nests build through May and June, when most are found during ordinary outdoor work.
July through September is peak size and peak defensiveness, and it is when most stings happen.
Colonies die back with the first hard frosts and the nest is not reused, though the same sheltered spot often is.
Foragers from a colony out in the corridor rather than anything on the property.
A hidden nest in the roof void, which needs treating at the nest rather than the entrance.
Ground nests under leaf litter are invisible and exactly where dogs put their noses.

FAQ
Unfortunately yes in late summer. Yellowjackets nest in undisturbed leaf-littered ground along the corridor, the nest is invisible, and a dog investigating a hole provokes it at very close range. Keeping to the path and away from holes with traffic is the practical precaution.
They forage well away from the colony, so wasps at a patio often come from a nest out in the corridor. Treating the patio does nothing to that colony, which is why locating where traffic converges is the first useful step.
We do not treat honey bees. A colony in a structure is referred to a beekeeper for live removal wherever practical. We handle wasps, yellowjackets and hornets, and we identify which is present before quoting.
Duluth sits in Gwinnett County, but structural pest control licensing in Georgia is administered at state level by the Georgia Department of Agriculture rather than by the county. County environmental health handles public health reporting locally.
Duluth sits in Gwinnett County with the Chattahoochee River forming its northern boundary. Its revitalised downtown and Town Green anchor an older residential core, while the newer subdivision development spreads south and east towards Sugarloaf.
That spread in building age is what shapes the work. An older home near downtown and a recent slab-built house near Sugarloaf need different treatment, and proximity to the river corridor changes mosquito and rodent pressure substantially over a short distance.
